Dermatology & Disease Management: An Interview with an Expert about the Applications of Scarletred®Vision

Author

In an interview, specialist Dr. Zikeli discusses the clinical characteristics of atopic dermatitis and why documentation using Scarletred®Vision is an optimal support for diagnosis and progress monitoring.

The specialist for dermatology and venereology Dr. Martin Zikeli practices at the hospital Wiener Neustadt and explains the necessity of high-quality documentation in the disease management of atopic dermatitis. The severity and progress of dermatitis is usually assessed by scores based on the physician's individual judgment, "but pictures say more than 1000 scores," Zikeli says. This is why he is convinced of Scarletred®Vision as an objective and time-efficient support for photo documentation and quantitative analysis of disease progression. The AI-based software is ideal as a diagnostic aid for medical staff and as a progress documentation tool during therapies for dermatological diseases, as well as injection site reactions (ISRs) due to vaccinations and other medical injections. Zikeli also agrees that "with the help of the image-based progress documentation, therapy decisions can be made on a solid basis." By using the SCARLETRED skin patch, the colors of the images can be optimally calibrated and standardized, and the affected skin area can be compared over time. In this way, the patient's therapy can be individually adjusted, which significantly improves the patient's quality of life and provides relief.
